NEW DELHI: Pakistan army chief general Ashfaq Parvez Kayani last summer refused to rein in Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, Lashkar-e-Toiba's military wing head and Mumbai attack accused, and confiscate a mobile phone he was using in jail to keep in touch with followers.
US-based investigative website ProPublica has claimed in a detailed investigation that the Pakistan army chief's refusal came on a suggestion by a senior US official during a meeting between Kayani and the American official last summer.
